Social Media Management Platforms: The Corporate Marketer’s New Best Friend

Posted By Jamie Beckland on 06/24/2010

We’re just putting the finishing touches on a new report that reviews the landscape for social media marketing platforms (SMMPs). SMMPs allow teams to co-manage multiple social media presences. With the proliferation of brand accounts, it’s not uncommon that one corporate marketer might have access to several hundred social media accounts for different products, platforms, and campaigns.

All of this social media fomenting has created new challenges for corporate marketers—that’s where SMMPs can help. By acting as a production layer on top of your social media accounts, SMMPs help you manage and control many social presences from one interface.

This report will review the main SMMP vendors, based on conversations with the vendors about their current product offerings and roadmaps. It also reviews strengths of various platforms to help the corporate marketer understand their own needs, and some solutions that are a good fit for different team structures and marketing goals.

White Horse sees rapid change and development across the SMMP landscape. While these tools continue to be developed, it’s important to start evaluating a product now, to be prepared as marketing organizations consider Q4 planning and 2011 goal setting. Left unchecked, social media can require increasing time investments from the marketing team. SMMPs are an important way to manage social activities.

The report is now live, and you can download it here: http://bit.ly/bg8EJi.
